Bethel Suites In the Press!
As we count down to the grand opening of Bethel Suites, we've been excitedly sharing our mission and vision for this project with members of our local community.
Bethel Suites came to life due to the generosity of volunteers, donors, and supporters like you, and the impact of media helps us spread the message of Community Catalysts to people who may never have heard about us otherwise.
Below are two digital articles recently published about Bethel Suites, detailing our efforts and the importance of affordable, attainable housing in Livingston County.
#1: Howell nonprofit transforms motel, nearly ready to welcome guests in need of housing: Livingston Daily
HOWELL TWP. — Howell-based nonprofit organization Community Catalysts is nearly ready to begin moving people into Bethel Suites, a 14-unit reduced-rate extended-stay motel aimed at improving guests' situations.
Community Catalysts Development Co. purchased a portion of the former Crest Motel at 4495 W. Grand River Ave. in Howell Township in 2022. The organization has converted the building into a more than 5,000-square-foot option for attainable, transitional housing.
Nonprofit director Eileen Zilch said more than a dozen people have signed up to be on the waitlist for units at Bethel Suites, as of Wednesday. She said she hopes guests will begin occupying eight of the 14 units — efficiency-style rooms with kitchenettes — by the end of April.
#2: Motel in Howell to become affordable housing: WLNS
HOWELL, Mich. (WLNS) – A motel in Howell is being transformed into an opportunity for people struggling with housing.
“We don’t have any kind of shelter in Livingston county we don’t have any kind of short-term housing,” said Eileen Zilch.
Zilch is the director of Community Catalysts, and purchased space on Grand River Avenue in Howell last year.
If you are feeling moved to donate to Bethel Suites, we gladly accept donations to help offset the costs of bringing this project to completion. Because we rely on individual donors and grants instead of government funding, your generosity allows us to continue our work and provide safe, dignified housing for people who need it most.
Thank you to the reporters at WLNS and Livingston Daily for their articles on Bethel Suites, and for spreading the news of our grand opening across Michigan!
