Community Catalysts Named the Recipient of 2024 Howell Senior Survivor Donations!

We are surprised, delighted, and jubilant to be the annual recipient of Howell Public School's 2024 Senior Survivor competition donations!

Now, you might be wondering, "What is Senior Survivor?"

Buckle up because this charity fundraiser, organized by Howell High School Student Council, is nothing short of outstanding!

Senior Survivor: A Charitable Extravaganza

Picture this: a game similar to the renowned show Survivor, but instead of being sent to a remote island, 12th-grade ‘survivors’ are locked inside the Howell High School for an entire week.

Each day of the competition, a number of 'survivors' will be eliminated until only one remains and is crowned the “Ultimate Survivor.”

The twist?

In the weeks leading up to Senior Survivor, Howell contestants are not only preparing mentally and physically but also dedicating their time to raising money for a chosen charity. During the week-long competition, survivors engage in challenges reminiscent of those seen on the TV show (sometimes better, and almost always funnier!).

To add an extra layer of excitement, the winner of each night’s immunity challenge is 'safe' from being eliminated the following day.

Now, here's where the magic happens. To avoid elimination, students turn in a donation bucket each day at the end of lunch, strategically using their donations to "play" a specific amount.

The survivor(s) who play the smallest amount of money each day face elimination. Once eliminated, they pack their belongings and return home.

The cherry on top? Last year's Senior Survivor raised a staggering $191,789.40 for the chosen charity!

Community Catalysts: Howell Senior’s Choice for 2024 Donations

This brings us to the heart of it all: the incredible opportunity bestowed upon Community Catalysts as Howell's 2024 Senior Survivor beneficiary.

This nomination is nothing short of a transformative experience for our organization, and we can't wait to share the journey with you as Howell's competition kicks off in the spring!

Affordable housing is a critical issue, and the youth of Howell are taking proactive steps to address it head-on. Through Senior Survivor, these amazing Howell students are not only raising awareness but also significant funds that will contribute to the creation of affordable housing solutions for youth in our community.

The Power of Youth-Led Initiatives

What makes this year’s Senior Survivor nomination of Community Catalysts even more remarkable is the fact that it is entirely student-led.

The students of Howell are showcasing their passion for social change and their commitment to making a difference in our community. By actively participating in a charity event like Senior Survivor and naming us the recipient of their hard-earned funds, these young leaders are proving age is no barrier to creating positive, lasting change.

Affordable housing, or attainable housing as some may call it, is a necessary and important social issue for Michigan residents. And the 2024 Howell seniors aren’t just acknowledging this need; they’re actively working towards a solution.

Their dedication serves as an inspiration to us all, reminding us of the incredible impact that can be achieved when passionate individuals come together for a common cause.
